Tool Description:

Data I/O's PSX Parallel Programmers are a family of gang/set programmers that can be configured for any production volume. The PSX400 is an affordable low volume 8-socket machine that supports flash in popular SOP, DIP, and PLCC packages; the PSX500 programs up to 10 devices in virtually any package for medium volume applications; the PSX1000 can program up to 20 devices at one time in virtually any package, and is the highest throughput gang/set programmer available for high volume applications.

PSX programming algorithms are executed using programmable state machines that are optimized in hardware for fast execution. Programming times for up to 20 1-Mbit parts are on the order of 30 seconds for a blank check, illegal bit check, programming, a two pass verify, and a sumcheck calculation.

The design of the programming hardware is such that parts are easily loaded/unloaded from the PSX and a single knob/button activates all sockets. Data files are downloaded through either a serial port at rates of up to 115.2kbaud or an IEEE-488 interface at rates of up to 170 Kbytes/sec.

The PSX can operate standalone with a 4-button, 2X40 LCD display, or the entire production process can be controlled through a PC with the TaskLink Production Control Software Package for Windows. Operators execute user-programmable tasks that eliminate the mistakes that result in scrap and rework throughout the board assembly process.

For Miniature Card adapting hardware, see Tool Type category
"Miniature Card-to-PC Card Adapter".
